Bree and Brett McGregor found it easy to fall hard for the breathtaking landscape and welcoming community along Michigan’s M22. After many a summer visit to Benzie County, the couple realized their dream of raising their daughter in Northern Michigan, when Brett retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in 2019.

Bree has more than a decade of academic research and writing experience, and her curriculum vitae can be viewed here. She has taught college composition, professional writing, technical writing, and research courses for American University, George Mason University, Arizona Western College, and the U.S. Marine Corps. Bree holds a PhD in Writing & Rhetoric from George Mason University. She is a member of 100+ Women Who Care - Benzie County, and she recently served as Executive Board President of Crystal Lake Cooperative Preschool.

Brett has more than twenty years of planning, budgeting, and management experience as a military officer and squadron commander. While serving at the Pentagon, he prepared congressional testimony, and he has authored chapters in aviation tactics and safety manuals. Additionally, Brett has conducted aviation mishap investigations and published findings reports for the U.S. Marine Corps. Brett is currently employed as a pilot for Delta Airlines, and he serves as Trustee of Elberta Village and Trail Steward for the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy.

Bree and Brett have moved 13 times in 20 years and have lived in or visited 27 countries. They feel fortunate to finally call Benzie County home.
